JUNG HEE
LIGHTING DESIGNER
Jung Hee is a musical adaptation of Sophocles’ Antigone. When her family is caught in the crossfire of South Korea’s Gwangju Uprising, Jung Hee must make an impossible choice: stay safe and pursue her dreams, or fight for the future of her family and city. Jung Hee weaves threads of familial bonds into the fabric of a city on fire in this new musical. It is also a mixture of theatrical forms: Act I is a musical, and Act II is a dance. The pivotal point is when the river pours down from the sky, allowing the audience to see the mourning, mesmerization, and also memories of the joy through movement and tableaus.
